ARE DREAMS ACHIEVED BY MERE DREAMING?

The way forward is always difficult.

The way to success is not easy.

The means to greatness is tough.

The way to perfection is hard.

Wealthiness is not found in lazy man's story.

Goodness is not part of careless man's attitude.

Effort is found in committed man's dictionary/dairy.

Holiness is found in peaceful man's life.

Goals are not achieved by being idle.

Destination is not reached by standing at a place.

Dreams are not realized by mere dreaming.

Friendship is not workable without tolerance and acceptance.

There was a man whose effort was found in his dairy,  his peacefulness achieved perfection and his toughness acquired greatness. He is called today a Saint, a perfect man, a renounced man, a holy man.

"He is John of Egypt.

He was born in Egypt. Until he was 25, he worked as a carpenter with his father. Then feeling called by God, he left the world and committed himself in a holy solitary life in the desert. His master tried his spirit with unreasonable demands; bidding him roll the hard rocks, tend dead trees, and the likes. In all this he obeyed with the simplicity of a child. Vf a training of 16 years, he withdrew to the top of a steep cliff to think only of God and his soul. The more he knew of himself, the more he distrusted himself. For the last 50 years, he saw no woman, and seldom men. This brought to him a holy joy and cheerfulness which consoled all who conversed with him; perfect obedience to Superiors; and, in return for this: authority over creatures whom he had forsaking for the creator.

St Augustine tells us of his appearing in a vision to a holy woman, whose eyes he had restored, to avoid seeing her face to face. Devils assailed him continually, but his prayer never ceased. From his long communion with God, he turned to men with gifts of healing and prophecy. Twice each week he spoke through a window with those who came to him, blessing oil for their sick and predicting future happenings. The last three days of his life he gave wholly to God. On the third day he was found dead on his knees as if in prayer, but his soul was with the Lord. What can we learn from this saint? “Faith believes; Hope prays; and Charity begs in order to give to others” (St Peter Julian Eymard)."

(Rev. Fr. Bernard Awasume Akum SDV, Saturday reflection: March 27th, 2021, 5th week of Lent.)

He became what and who he is after series of sufferings and sacrifices. Who he is, did not come in a platter of gold.  He made efforts and reached a greater height.

To reach your destination, to achieve your goal, to realize your dream, to keep your friendship, to reach your destination, you must avoid idleness, mere dreaming, just standing at a place, intolerance and embrace the contrary.

To find holiness, goodness, wealthiness and effort, in your life, dairy, story, attitude, you must be peaceful, careful, committed and laborious.

To be successful, wealthy, progressive, perfect, or great, you must utilize every opportunity you have, never take anything for granted.

Be committed! Be good! Be holy! Be focus! Be unique!
